PIC, Qatar To Offer Free Heart Treatment for Underprivileged Children

PESHAWAR: Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Qatar Charity Pakistan have forged a partnership aimed at providing free heart treatment to orphaned and underprivileged children suffering from cardiac diseases.

The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by PIC’s Chief Executive and Medical Director, Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah, and representatives from Qatar Charity Pakistan, including Sajjad Khan, underscores a joint commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of vulnerable children.

Under the terms of the agreement, Qatar Charity Pakistan will extend financial assistance to cover the treatment expenses of more than 150 children afflicted with cardiac ailments. The initiative, initially slated for a four-month duration, with the possibility of extension, aims to alleviate the suffering of children in need.

Expressing gratitude for the generous support, Professor Dr. Ijaz Hussain, Head of Pediatric Cardiology at PIC, lauded the partnership as a beacon of hope for orphaned and underprivileged children grappling with congenital heart defects and the need for open-heart surgeries.

The funding provided by Qatar Charity Pakistan will facilitate comprehensive treatment, including heart surgeries, ensuring that children receive the critical medical care they require. This initiative serves as a testament to the collective efforts of Qatar Charity Pakistan and the people of Qatar in serving as a lifeline for vulnerable children in need.
