KARACHI: The national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has said that its flight operations to Toronto, Canada, are ongoing without any suspension.
According to PIA spokesman Abdullah H. Khan, the airline is diligently maintaining its flight schedule to all destinations it serves. Addressing the misinformation circulating in certain media circles regarding a potential shutdown of PIA’s flights to Toronto, the spokesperson termed the news baseless. He emphasized that PIA, like any other reputable organization, consistently meets its financial obligations.
PIA Clarifies Payment Delay
The delay in payments to the PIA handling agent and the fuel company was solely due to time zone differences, clarified the spokesperson. He urged the media to exercise caution and refrain from disseminating unfounded news that not only impacts the airline’s reputation but also the country’s image. Such false reports can detrimentally affect PIA’s sales and inadvertently benefit its competitors.
The spokesperson also highlighted that the total payment to both the fuel and handling company amounted to $200,000, whereas the financial consequences resulting from the circulation of such unfounded news could cost PIA millions of dollars and benefit its rivals.
The PIA spokesperson reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to providing uninterrupted flight services to Toronto and dispelled any concerns of a disruption in operations.
