LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority has stopped production at 2 food points, penalized eighteen food business operators with hefty fines and served warning notices for improvement to eighty-two eateries, besides discarding 3,050-litre substandard milk.
A PFA spokesman said that food safety teams examined over 100 food points, including production units, dairy shops, restaurants, hotels, and general stores.
He said that during the operation, the PFA took action against FBOs for not taking necessary measures to control insects, for the worst condition of hygiene, for using substandard ingredients in food, and for failing to present the required record the raiding teams.

Moreover, the food points’ workers also did not have medical certificates.The PFA requested that the people cooperate with it to identify the counterfeiting mafia.
It said citizens could complain about violating food safety issues, unhygienic food points, and adulteration mafia on its 1223 helpline number or social media accounts.
He said that the authority was all committed to continuing its operation against substandard food points and adulteration mafia to ensure the provision of healthy and safe food to the public during the holy month of Ramazan. –APP
