ISLAMABAD: The Federal government has released funds worth Rs640.19 million to upgrade nine ongoing petroleum-related projects during this fiscal year’s six months under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP 2022-23) against a total allocation of 1.48 billion rupees.
According to official sources, “Out of the total disbursement of 640.19 million rupees, around 24.24 million rupees have been spent on petroleum projects to accelerate gas and oil exploration activities during the first half of the fiscal year 2022-23 (July-December)”.
As per the PSDP official document, the incumbent government had earmarked 150.560 million rupees for the establishment of the National Mineral Data Centre (NMDC) Directorate General of Minerals, 303.700 million rupees for the up-gradation and expansion of Pakistan Petroleum Core house (PETCORE) for its sustainable operations to facilitate gas and oil exploration research in Pakistan (HDIP).
There are Rs100 million for Geological Mapping on 50 Toposheets, out of 354 unmapped Toposheets of Outcrop Area of Balochistan Province, 70 million rupees for Legal Consultancy Services for drafting the Model Mineral Agreement and updating of Regulatory Framework (Federal and Provincial Minerals/Coal Departments).
Moreover, Rs 200 million for Pakistan National Research Programme on Geological Hazards (Earthquakes and Landslides) – Data Acquisition along Active Faults and Identification of Potential Landslides Hotspot Zones.
Petroleum sector projects
Similarly, the government specified 224.809 million rupees for strengthening and up-gradation of the Karachi Laboratories Complex (KLC) at HDIP Operations Office, Karachi, and 100 million rupees to supply 10 MMCFD gas/RLNG at the doorstep (zero point) of Bostan Special Economic Zone, Balochistan (for SSGCL).
Moreover, Rs 74.705 million to supply 13 MMCFD gas/RLNG at the doorstep (zero point) of Bin Qasim Industrial Park Special Economic Zone, Sindh (SSGCL) and 256.735 million rupees to supply 40 MMCFD gas/RLNG at the doorstep (zero point) of Allama Iqbal Industrial City Special Economic Zone, Faisalabad (SNGPL).
