ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s interim government on Saturday reduced the price of petrol by Rs8 per litre and that of diesel by Rs11 per litre for the next fortnight, the Finance Ministry said.
The new price of petrol is 323.38 rupees and 318.18 rupees for HSD, a notification of the Ministry of Finance said. The notification added that the price of the petroleum products revision was due to the changes in the global prices of petroleum products and the improvement in the exchange rate.

The local currency appreciated throughout the previous week, seeing an improvement of 1.4 % against the US dollar in the interbank market, and is also on track to be the best-performing currency in September.
Earlier on September 16, the prices of petrol and diesel hit a record high, as the caretaker government raised fuel prices by up to Rs. 26.02 per litre.
