PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Peshawar Zalmi, in partnership with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the provincial sports authority, will host a Flood Relief Exhibition Cricket Match on August 30 to channel Pakistan’s passion for cricket into urgent support for communities devastated by recent monsoon floods.

The event at Peshawar Cricket Stadium will see Peshawar Zalmi face a Legends XI featuring past and present stars, with former captain Babar Azam among those expected to play the match under the slogan “Khel Se Khidmat” (Service through Sports), Peshawar Zalmi posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The charity match will take place at the Peshawar Cricket Stadium between Peshawar Zalmi and a star-studded Legends XI, a team brimming with past and present cricketing stars.

Among those expected to play, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam may make an appearance, subject to availability, adding even more buzz to an already electric fixture.

But this is more than a cricket match – it’s a lifeline.

All ticket proceeds will go directly toward flood relief and rehabilitation efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where communities have recently been battered by devastating monsoon floods.

Javed Afridi, Chairman of Peshawar Zalmi, said, “Cricket has always united Pakistanis. Through this match, we hope to transform the game’s passion into tangible help for those who’ve lost their homes, their loved ones, and their peace.”

Tickets are now on sale at Peshawar Sports Complex, Hayatabad Sports Complex, and Peshawar Cricket Stadium, with fans urged to secure their seats not just for the spectacle, but for the cause.

Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jahan, calling the event “a reflection of solidarity through sport,” and a way to heal wounds beyond the boundaries.
