Peshawar Zalmi Sign Bangladesh Pacer Shoriful Islam for PSL 11

KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi announced the signing of Bangladesh left-arm fast bowler Shoriful Islam for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, which is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3.

The franchise confirmed the development through its official social media platforms, sharing a promotional poster featuring Shoriful Islam in Zalmi colours. The team welcomed the pacer, describing his arrival as a boost to their bowling attack.

Shoriful has been a regular member of Bangladesh’s national side across all formats since making his international debut in 2021. He has represented his country in 14 Test matches, 40 One-day Internationals and 59 T20 Internationals.

In the T20 format, the pacer has built an impressive record, claiming 195 wickets in 156 matches at an average of 22.27, while maintaining an economy rate of 8.22.

Consistent performer

He has also been a consistent performer in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he ranks among the leading wicket-takers in the tournament’s history, having taken 87 wickets in 60 innings at an average of 20.35.

The upcoming season will mark Shoriful’s first appearance in the PSL.

Earlier, Zalmi also added emerging left-arm fast bowler Muhammad Basit to their squad as part of efforts to strengthen the team ahead of the tournament, which will feature eight teams and be held across six venues in Pakistan.

Peshawar Zalmi are set to begin their PSL 11 campaign on March 28 against Pindiz at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar.
