MULTAN: Chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Maulana Tahir Ashrafi on Sunday said that the people of Pakistan want independent and sovereign Palestine state.
Addressing a conference to express solidarity with the people of Palestine, he said Pakistan maintains a resolute position on the issue, aligning with the stance originally taken by the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said that Palestine and Kashmir are the two big issues of Muslim ummah. The religious leader said Pakistan wants to provide complete justice to the people of Kashmir and Palestine.
Maulana Tahir Ashrafi added Palestine should have the status of an independent and sovereign government with its capital in Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
Over 9,400 Palestinians martyred in Gaza
Over 9,400 Palestinians have been martyred in Gaza since October 7, when Israel launched its daily bombardment of the densely populated enclave.
Israel has cut off fuel, water, food, and power supplies to the enclave, while airstrikes have targeted hospitals, ambulances, refugee camps, and schools.
Maulana Tahir Ashrafi strongly condemned the new wave of terrorism in the country. He stated that enemies wanted to sabotage the peaceful environment of the Pakistan through terror. He said Pakistan is now heading toward economic stability, and the terrorists want to destabilize it.

Ashrafi went on to say the Afghans are our brothers, and we want Afghanistan to make progress. He said that illegal Afghans could not be allowed to stay in the country. He noted that Pakistan has always served the people of Afghanistan adding peace in Pakistan is vital for peace in Afghanistan, and vice versa.
Maulana Tahir Ashrafi also criticized propaganda against security institutions. He demanded strict action against the people involved in propaganda.
