ISLAMABAD: The 89th meeting of the Council of Complaint (CoC) of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed the LTN Family to pay the dues to the anchors within 30 days.
During the meeting held at the PEMRA headquarters yesterday, anchorpersons’ complaints against TV channels were taken up.
The CoC is considering complaints by senior journalist Imtiaz Alam against Geo, Rauf Klasra’s complaint against Talon News, Sami Ibrahim, Imran Wasim and other journalists’ complaints against Bol News and Imtiaz Ali and Syed Arif Raza Zaidi’s complaints against LTN Family. The meeting directed the LTN Family to pay the dues to the complainants within 30 days.
The council also asked the other complainants to submit their viewpoints in the next meeting of the CoC. After last year’s amendments to the PEMRA Act, the authority has been given the power to take up the applications and complaints of the workers and employees of the electronic media channels and issue recommendations or directions in this regard. In case of non-compliance, the CoC can recommend a fine or penalty against the channel concerned.
The PEMRA CoC meeting was chaired by Syed Muhammad Ali while other members of the regulatory authority were also present. DG Operations, Broadcast, Media and Public Relations Muhammad Tahir and Head Legal Tahir Farooq also attended the CoC meeting.
