BRUSSELS: Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani has said that lasting peace in South Asia hinged on the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The Pakistan Foreign Minister made these remarks during the inauguration of a photo exhibition in Brussels commemorating Kashmir Solidarity Day as part of his official visit, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.
Hosted at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels, the exhibition portrayed the challenges faced by the oppressed people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Addressing the audience, the foreign minister praised the resilient sons and daughters of Jammu and Kashmir who have courageously resisted India’s attempts at coercion and control.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made for the Kashmir Cause, stating, “Today, we pay homage to the martyrs and victims of Indian brutalities. India has been unable to suppress the will of the Kashmiri people, and their sacrifices will be etched in history.”
Jilani urged the international community to press India to halt ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK, reverse the unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019, and implement the UN Security Council Resolutions.
He affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their quest for the realization of their inherent right to self-determination. Pakistan, he added, will continue to provide comprehensive political, moral, and diplomatic support to their just struggle.
The objective of the exhibition is to generate awareness about the challenges faced by the Kashmiri people and emphasize the importance of recognizing their right to self-determination.
