It is worth noting that the PCB also announced a 16-member squad for the series on Wednesday.
Mike Hesson’s first assignment
This will be the first official assignment for newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson.
The newly revealed squad notably omits star players such as Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, indicating a potential shift in strategy under Hesson’s leadership.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Hasan Ali has earned a recall to the T20I side, having last featured against Ireland in 2024.
Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub also make their return to the squad following their recovery from injuries which had ruled them out of major events, including the 2025 Champions Trophy and the home series against New Zealand.
Originally planned as a five-match series with games in Faisalabad, the Bangladesh tour has been shortened to three fixtures due to logistical and security concerns.
Revised schedule
This revision was agreed upon following a constructive meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials, including Chairman Nazmul Abedeen and President Farooq Ahmed.
Following the discussions, both boards consented to move ahead with the revised schedule, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining strong bilateral cricketing relations.
