LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to take action against fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani in response to his recent criticism on the selectors after not being selected for the Asia Cup.

The announcement of the Pakistan squads for the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023 and the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan was made by Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq just on Wednesday.

Following the announcement, former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif shared the list of pacers on his official Twitter account.

In a now widely circulated tweet, Shahnawaz Dahani, retweeted Latif’s post with the comment “Seems as if Dahani is not a Pakistani pacer,” casting an indirect shadow on the selectors’ decision-making process.

Dhani’s criticism on journalists

The fast bowler did not stop at that. He further expressed his dissatisfaction and attacked the journalists for not questioning PBC management. When a Twitter user shared Dahani’s own performance statistics, the fast bowler boldly asserted that no journalist had stepped forward to present these statistics to the selectors.

Sources privy to the development said that the PCB management is highly disappointed with Shahnawaz Dahani’s social media posts.

Quoting PCB authorities, insiders revealed that no player holds the authority to unnecessarily criticize journalists or cast doubts on the decisions made by the selection committee.

Furthermore, he said that the PCB has decided to take action against Shahnawaz Dahani. However, the board’s legal department will discuss the legal aspect of his remarks on Friday.
