ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) newly appointed interim management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf has said that he would hopefully meet and talk with the Secretary Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah to review confidence-building measures between the two sides.
The PCB chairman said that Pakistan would try its best to explore the possibility of bilateral cricket resuming between Pakistan and India on the sidelines of an International Cricket Council meeting in Durban, South Africa, a local media outlet reported on Tuesday.
He added that they would discuss the pending issues between the two countries. Since 2012 both countries are still unable to play bilateral with the only exception when Pakistan travelled to India to participate in the T20 World Cup in 2016. Since then, both teams faced each other in multi-lateral tournaments.
It is worth noting here that Pakistan has to travel to India for the 50-over World Cup, however, the final decision is yet to be taken.
PCB to Act as Advised by Govt
To proceed over the issue and have a final decision, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted an 11-member committee, by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto to explore the pros and cons of the national side traveling across the border to feature in the showpiece.
Zaka Ashraf further said that the PCB would act according to the decision being taken by the government and whatever the government decides the board would implement it accordingly.
The ICC Cricket World Cup is set to be held from October 5 to November 19 in India.
