LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revoked the no-objection certificates (NOCs) previously issued to former cricketers Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, preventing them from holding dual roles with franchise teams in a bid to avoid conflicts of interest.
The decision means both individuals—currently serving as full-time PCB officials—will no longer be associated with Quetta Gladiators. Sarfaraz, a member of the national men’s selection committee, and Wahab, who is mentoring the Pakistan women’s team, had earlier been allowed to take on additional roles as team director and bowling coach, respectively.
Following a review of their responsibilities, the PCB has withdrawn these permissions, reinforcing its policy that full-time officials cannot simultaneously work with domestic franchises.
Impartiality
The move is aimed at ensuring that officials remain fully committed to their roles within the national setup and maintain impartiality in cricket administration.
Sarfaraz was recently appointed to the selection committee alongside Misbah-ul-Haq on March 5, after a restructuring triggered by the resignation of Aleem Dar. Despite his role on the panel, Misbah continues to serve as batting coach for Peshawar Zalmi during PSL 11.
The newly formed selection committee now includes Sarfaraz, Misbah, Aqib Javed and Asad Shafiq.
Sarfaraz also announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this month, concluding a successful career highlighted by Pakistan’s 2017 ICC Champions Trophy triumph.
