PCB Appoints Yasir Arafat as High-Performance Coach for Pakistan Cricket Team

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test all-rounder Yasir Arafat as the High-Performance Coach for the Pakistan Cricket Team. He will be part of the team management for the upcoming five T20Is against New Zealand, scheduled to take place from January 12 to 21 next year in New Zealand.

At 41 years old, Yasir Arafat, who played in three Tests, 11 ODIs, and 13 T20Is for Pakistan, has attained the ECB Level 4 coaching certification from Loughborough University, making him the first Pakistani Test cricketer to achieve this milestone.

His coaching experience includes roles as a bowling coach with county teams such as Sussex and Surrey, as well as the Australian Big Bash League franchise Perth Scorchers. Recently, he served as the bowling coach for the Hong Kong national team.

In addition to his coaching, Yasir has played for various T20 teams in global league cricket, making appearances for Otago and Canterbury in New Zealand’s domestic T20 league.

Yasir will take on the role of camp commandant during the five-day preparation camp in Lahore, scheduled from December 29 to January 2, leading up to the New Zealand tour.
