PCB Announces Schedule and Venue Details for PSL 2024 Edition

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced the schedule of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 edition according to which the much-awaited annual sporting event would start on February 17.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed on Friday that the 2024 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will kick off from February 17 at the PCB’s headquarters in Lahore. The opening match will feature two-time winners and defending champions Lahore Qalandars facing off against Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium.

PSL 9 is scheduled to be played in four cities – Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The final of the six-team tournament will take place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on March 18.

Throughout the 34-match T20 tournament, Karachi will host 11 PSL matches, including the Qualifier, two Eliminators, and the final. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium will each host nine matches, while Multan will witness five matches.

A highly anticipated clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings is set for February 24 and March 9. The Gaddafi Stadium will host the February 24 contest, while the National Bank Stadium will witness Qalandars and Kings facing off on March 9.

Kings, Qalandars, Sultans, and United will play five matches at their home ground, while Peshawar Zalmi will play four matches at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. Quetta Gladiators will play three matches each in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with one match at the Multan Cricket Stadium against the home side Sultans on February 25.

Similar to the previous PSL edition, the upcoming ninth edition will take place in two legs, with Multan Cricket Stadium and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium hosting 14 matches from February 17 to 27. The cricketing action will then shift to Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium and Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, where 16 matches will be played from February 28 to March 12. The tournament will then move to Karachi entirely for the playoffs.

Chair of PCB Management Committee, Mr. Zaka Ashraf, expressed excitement about hosting the event across multiple cities and highlighted the commitment to bringing top-notch cricket to fans across Pakistan, promoting the sport at the grassroots level.
