ISLAMABAD: The inflation monitor; Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 24.5 percent in December, year-on-year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.
Prices were up 0.5 percent in December from the previous month of the last year, the bureau said in a press statement. The CPI had risen by 23.8 percent in the second last month of 2022 compared to the same period last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) had reported on Thursday.

Inflation affects purchasing power
The prices of majority of the consumer goods remained out of reach of the people despite around 2.8 percent slowdown in the index movement. The inflation rate had been in line with the Finance Ministry‘s expectations ranging from 23 percent to 25 percent.
