ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics authorities on Friday gave a briefing to political parties’ leaders, federal and provincial ministers, and parliamentarians on the ongoing seventh Digital Population and Housing Census, under which nearly 237.448 million individuals have so far been counted in all provinces.
PBS said in a statement that the purpose of the briefing was to inform and update the participants about the Digital Census’s methodology and statistics collected so far.
The participants were informed about the crucial role of provincial governments in efficiently collecting authentic data during the census process.
The PBS informed the meeting how its field teams took quick decisions to identify the ‘low-coverage’ blocks by using the ‘Digital System.’
The participants expressed their satisfaction with the Digital System and lauded the efforts of PBS for doing the census efficiently.
Census latest figures
As per the latest census figures, around 237,448,241 persons have so far been counted.
Giving the details, the PBS informed that in Sindh province, as many as 54,138,485 persons have been counted so far, while in Punjab, the number is 116,442,499, and 39,315,873 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Balochistan, 19,713,823 individuals have been counted so far.
