ISLAMABAD: Professor Dr. Zarfishan Tahir, Dean Institute of Public Health, has urged patients suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and stomach and liver diseases to avoid fried foods, samosas, pakoras, spicy dishes and cold drinks in Ramazan.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, she advised the patients to be careful in the consumption of meat as the excessive use of the foods can lead to an increase in uric acid, blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar.

She further said that health problems in stomach and liver patients can also increase which could be very harmful.

Dr. Zarfashan Tahir said that Ramazan is the month of earning more good deeds and rewards, not eating more and more.

She further said that the Institute of Public Health considered that promoting public health and creating awareness among people is its responsibility so that people can protect their health, not only in Holy Ramazan but also during the rest of the months.

Ramazan a Month of Blessing, Mercy

The Dean said that Ramazan is a month of blessings and mercy and provides an opportunity to earn more good deeds and rewards. It teaches us patience, therefore, we should also be patient in drinking and eating to keep ourselves healthy so that at the end of the month joy and happiness of Eid can be doubled.
