ISLAMABAD: Russian rescuers have found the fuselage of an Antonov-24 passenger plane that disappeared from radar earlier in Russia’s far east, the emergencies ministry said Thursday.
“An Mi-8 helicopter operated by Rosaviatsiya (Russia’s civil aviation authority) has spotted the burning fuselage of the aircraft,” Russia’s emergencies ministry said on Telegram.

The plane carrying 49 people has disappeared from radar in Russia’s far eastern region of Amur, the regional governor said on Thursday.
The Antonov-24 plane disappeared from radar as it headed to the city of Tynda from the city of Blagoveshchensk, Vassily Orlov wrote on Telegram according to AFP.

Vasily Orlov said according to preliminary data, there were 43 passengers, including five children, and six crew members on board.
“All necessary forces and means have been deployed to search for the plane,” he wrote on Telegram.
The emergencies ministry said the number of people onboard was about 40.
The Russian news agency Interfax reported emergency services as saying: “The An-24 plane was flying along the Khabarovsk-Blagoveshchensk-Tynda route. It failed to pass security checks near its final destination. There is no contact with it.”
