Pasban-e-Hurriyat Pays Rich Tribute to Syed Ali Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday paid rich tribute to iconic leader, Syed Ali Shah Gilani calling him the name of a mission.

Pasban-e-Hurriyat in a message on the occasion of Gilani’s 3rd death anniversary said that the Kashmiris will achieve their goal of freedom from India by sticking to his mission.

The group said Gilani was a staunch proponent of Kashmir’s merger with Pakistan and will continue to inspire Kashmiris in their fight against Indian occupation. It noted Gilani was a truly legendary figure in the Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom from the Indian yoke.

It added Gilani spent more than a decade in Indian prisons for this unwavering stance on the Kashmir dispute. Pasban-e-Hurriyat in the message said the slogan, ‘hum Pakistan hain, Pakistan humara he’ was coined by Gilani.

It noted Syed Ali Shah Gilani is the name of the mission and the Kashmiris will achieve their goal of freedom from India by sticking to his mission. Pasban-e-Hurriyat said Gilani had always said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would never surrender nor accept the Indian aggression.

On the occasion rallies and marches were organized in all major cities of Pakistan and Azad Jammu of Kashmir to honor the sacrifices of Syed Ali Shah Gilani and create awareness against brutality in IIOJK. Meanwhile, the Kashmir diaspora across the world held rallies to pay rich tribute to Syed Ali Shah Gilani and his struggle for the liberation of Kashmir.

It is pertinent to mention that the political struggle of Syed Ali Shah Gilani spanned more than 70 years. During these years, he raised the cause of Kashmiri right to self-determination from various political platforms, like Jamaat-e-Islami (Jammu and Kashmir), Muslim United Front, All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

Geelani was jailed by India a number of times. In his later years of life, the iconic Kashmiri leader was imprisoned in his home where he embraced martyrdom on September 1, 2021.
