Palestinian Death Toll from Israeli Bombing on Gaza Climbs to 4,651

GAZA: The Hamas-controlled health ministry on Sunday claimed that at least 4,651 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel began bombing at the Palestinian enclave.

In a statement, Ashraf Qudra, a ministry spokesman, said that 1,873 children among those killed.

He said that 1,023 women were also among the people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.

The number of injured has reached to 14,245, the spokesman added.

The conflict originated when Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel. This multi-pronged surprise attack included a barrage of rocket attacks into Israel.

Hamas declared that the operation was a direct response to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and continued violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.

In retaliation, the Israeli military launched Operation Swords of Iron, targeting civilians within the Gaza Strip.

Gaza facing dire humanitarian crisis

Gaza is subject to facing a dire humanitarian crisis, with no electricity, while water, food, fuel, and medical supplies are running out.

On Saturday, a humanitarian aid convoy started entering the Gaza Strip from Egypt. It was the first aid delivery to Gaza since armed conflict broke out between Israel and Hamas.

Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugee has warned that the they would run out of fuel by Wednesday.

He urged all parties to immediately allow fuel supplies into Gaza and to ensure that it is strictly used to prevent humanitarian operations from collapsing.

UNRWA also released its report on the latest situation of Gaza on Sunday, which revealed that 13 more staff members have been killed since the conflict started, bringing the total to 29, while a further 17 have been wounded.

In a post on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, UNRWA said that that half of those killed were teachers.
