Palestine’s UN Envoy Says Massive Genocide Going on in Gaza’s North

NEW YORK: A senior Palestinian diplomat to the United Nations has expressed concern over Israel’s ongoing siege of northern Gaza adding that a genocide within the genocide is happening in the Palestinian territory.

Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed over the last week in Gaza and hundreds of thousands of civilian residents are trapped or ordered to flee amid intense bombardment of the area.

As the military siege in the Jabalia refugee camp entered its 10th day on Sunday, Palestinian authorities said at least 200 people have been killed since the Israeli operations started earlier this month.

According to Palestinian news agency Wafa, at least 17 more people were killed on Sunday morning in central and northern Gaza.

“What is happening in northern Gaza now is a genocide within the genocide,” Palestinian Ambassador Majed Bamya, the deputy permanent observer to the UN, said in a post on X.

As per reports about 400,000 Palestinians are struck in northern Gaza, with the Israeli military not allowing anyone to leave the area despite issuing an evacuation order. Israeli military in a statement on Sunday said 40 targets were hit in Gaza in the past 24 hours.

Explosions were also reported from the Israeli army’s demolition of dozens of homes in Jabalia and its surroundings, particularly in the al-Safatay and al-Tuwam neighbourhoods.

Osama Hamdan, Hamas’s representative in Lebanon, told media that Israel has stopped the entry of food supplies to the north for 10 days, describing it as a crime against humanity.

Meanwhile, six Palestinians, most of them children, were wounded when the Israeli military bombed a home in the Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City.

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territory, accused Israel of committing massacre saying that its troops are executioners of a genocidal plan.
