Pakistan’s Weekly Inflation Increases by 0.33%

ISLAMABAD: The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator for the Combined Group rose by 0.33 per cent during the week ended on 13 July 2023, while the SPI surged by 28.96 per cent compared to the same period from last year.

According to the latest data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the Combined Index was at 258.63 in contrast to 257.79 on 6 July 2023 while the index was recorded at 200.55 a year ago, on 5 July 2022.

Out of the 51 monitored goods, the average rate of 21 commodities increased, 11 goods decreased whereas 19 products registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups reflected that SPI surged across all quantiles ranging between 0.21 per cent and 0.51 per cent.

Lowest Income Group witnesses  weekly increase

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.51 per cent while the highest income group registered an increase of 0.21 per cent.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments reflected that SPI rose across all quantiles ranging between 29.58 per cent and 31.13 per cent.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group surged by 29.58% per cent while the highest income group witnessed an increase of 29.64 per cent.

The average rate of Sona urea stood at 3272 rupees per fifty kg bag which is 4.47 per cent higher than last week’s rate and 40.01 per cent higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, the average cement rate was recorded at 1145 rupees per fifty kg bag, which is 0.09 per cent higher than the previous week and 9.36 per cent higher than rates last year.
