ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Ashrafi, has urged the Afghan interim government to prioritize addressing legitimate concerns raised by Pakistan instead of engaging in a blame game. In a conversation with Arab and national media representatives, Ashrafi stressed the importance of maintaining stability and peace in the region.

Ashrafi clarified Pakistan’s intentions, emphasizing that Pakistan does not desire instability or lawlessness in Afghanistan and expects the same commitment from Kabul. He highlighted the historic ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan, rooted in social, cultural, and religious bonds, underscoring their mutual dependence on peace and prosperity.

Ashrafi also addressed the issue of Afghan extremists potentially finding accomplices in recent blasts in Pakistan, urging both nations to collaboratively resolve this matter for regional security and stability.

He emphasized that recognizing Israel was not acceptable, as Kashmir and Palestine were common issues for the Muslim Ummah, with a particular focus on the ongoing oppression in Kashmir. Ashrafi called for international awareness of the plight of Kashmiris, urging the international community to take note of their concerns.

Furthermore, as the President of the International Interfaith Council, Ashrafi reaffirmed the rights of minorities in Pakistan, stating that their protection was the state’s responsibility. He strongly condemned recent terrorist incidents, labeling them as acts of barbarism contrary to Islam and humanity. Ashrafi noted a recent increase in such attacks and emphasized that those behind them were acting against the teachings of Islam.

He mentioned that Muslim World League Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa had also condemned these incidents in the strongest terms. Ashrafi expressed solidarity against terrorism and extremism, asserting that terrorism was a cancer that must be eradicated. He highlighted India’s alleged involvement in terrorism and called on the international community to take notice of this concerning development.
