ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ) in Islamabad and praised the combat readiness of Pakistan Navy.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, ISPR, during his farewell visit, General Mirza called on Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Naveed Ashraf.
“The CJCSC highly appreciated Pakistan Navy’s combat readiness and commended its steadfast resolve to safeguard the nation’s maritime frontiers,” the statement said.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf thanked the outgoing CJCSC for his pivotal role in strengthening cooperation among the Tri-Services. Earlier, upon arrival at NHQ, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza will retire on November 27, 2025, marking the end of the post after the 27th Constitutional amendment. The amendment also elevates the Army Chief as Chief of Defence Forces.
President Asif Ali Zaradri, in August this year, awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the highest award of Pakistan, to Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza in recognition of his services during Marka-e-Haq, where Pakistan inflicted a humiliating defeat on India.
Last month, General Mirza visited Bangladesh and held important meetings with top civilian and military leadership of the South Asia nation to boost bilateral defence cooperation.
Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal of Honour to General Sahir Shamshad Mirza for his contributions to bilateral defence ties.
