ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s sports goods exports increased by 17.78% during the 9 months of the current financial year (2022-23) compared to the export of the corresponding period last year.
Pakistan exported sports goods worth 306.11 million dollars during July-March (2022-23) compared to the export of 259.904 million dollars during July-March (2021-22), showing growth of 17.78%, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Among the sports goods, the exports of footballs rose by 33.67% surging from 132.935 million dollars last year to 177.694 million dollars during the current year.
The gloves exports, however, dropped by 7.53%, the data revealed. Likewise, the exports of all other sports products rose by 8.14% to 70.267 million dollars from 75.984 million dollars last year.
Meanwhile, on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the sports products export witnessed an increase of 14.12% in March 2023 as compared to the export of the same period last year.
Pakistan’s sports exports in March
The sports products exports in March 2023 were recorded at 35.953 million dollars against 31.504 million dollars in March 2022.
During the period, the export of footballs and all other sports items surged by 21.07 and 23.69%, respectively, whereas the exports of gloves dropped by 17.91%.
Meanwhile, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the data revealed that the exports of sports products increased by 26.81% during March 2023, compared to the exports of 28.352 million dollars in February 2023.
On a month-on-month basis, the exports of footballs and gloves surged by 36.24 % and 25.90%, respectively. In addition, the exports of other sports items also increased by 8.02%. –APP
