KEY POINTS

  • Amin scored 293 runs in three ODIs against South Africa, including two unbeaten centuries.
  • Smriti Mandhana and Tazmin Brits also earned nominations for their explosive performances in September.

DUBAI: Pakistan opener Sidra Amin has been named among the three nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2025, following her exceptional run-scoring display in the ODI series against South Africa.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nominees on Tuesday, with Amin joining India’s Smriti Mandhana and South Africa’s Tazmin Brits on the shortlist.

Amin was in prolific form, finishing as the top scorer of the series with 293 runs in three matches at a staggering average of 293.00. She hammered two consecutive unbeaten centuries, 121 and 122*, and capped her run with a composed fifty in the final ODI to guide Pakistan to a consolation win.

Though Pakistan lost the first two games, Amin’s consistent performances ensured competitive totals and demonstrated her maturity at the top of the order.

Joining her in the nomination list is Smriti Mandhana, who lit up the ODI series against Australia with 308 runs in four matches, averaging 77.00 with a strike rate of 135.68.

She smashed scores of 58, 117, and a record-breaking 125, which included the fastest-ever ODI century by an Indian woman, off just 50 balls, making it the second fastest in women’s ODI history.

Mandhana’s standout efforts earned her the Player of the Series award, despite India losing the series.

South Africa’s Tazmin Brits also made a strong case for the monthly honour. Playing a pivotal role in her team’s 2-1 series win over Pakistan, she scored 272 runs in just two innings at a strike rate of 103.81.

Her twin unbeaten centuries, 101* and 171*, secured her the Player of the Series title, as she demonstrated power and patience in equal measure.

The ICC Women’s Player of the Month award recognises outstanding individual performances in international cricket across all formats.

The winner will be decided through a combination of votes from an independent panel of global cricket experts and fans worldwide.
