ISLAMABAD: Sessions of the Senate and the National Assembly will be held separately at Parliament House on Monday to discuss amendments to the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
The National Assembly session, originally scheduled for 5 PM, has been rescheduled to 4 PM, while the Upper House will meet at 06:00 p.m.
The National Assembly secretariat issued a notification regarding the change under Rule 49, sub-clause 2(b) of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, 2007, at the Speaker’s discretion. All members have been notified of the updated schedule.
Following the approval of the 26th constitutional amendment, the federal government has decided to amend the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act.
The proposed amendment aims to increase the number of Supreme Court judges, and preparations for the bill’s approval are reportedly underway.

Members of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) are expected to present the amendment bill during Private Member’s Day.
Local media reports say that members of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), PML-N, and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have been instructed to ensure their participation in the session.
Moreover, PML-N, PPP, and MQM-P leadership have issued directives to their members regarding attendance.
