Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Wishes Biden Swift Recovery from COVID-19

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani extended his best wishes to United States President Joe Biden for his “swift and complete” recovery after he tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Gilani expressed solidarity with the President and his family during this difficult period, conveying prayers for his quick recuperation.

He expressed optimism that President Biden would soon resume his duties of leadership and service to the American people.

Earlier on Wednesday, the White House confirmed that US President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 while on a campaign visit to Las Vegas and is experiencing mild symptoms.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has announced the positive test for Joe Biden following the president of UnidosUS, a Latino civil rights group, stated that President Biden would not be able to speak at a scheduled event due to the diagnosis.

Karine Jean-Pierre further said that the President is vaccinated and boosted and experiencing mild symptoms.

The development takes place prominent Democrats including US Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and ex- Speaker Nancy Pelosi have increased pressure on President Biden to withdraw from his reelection campaign over deep concerns he cannot defeat former President Donald Trump, US press reported.

ABC News reported that Schumer told President Biden in a meeting on Saturday that it would be good for the US and the Democrats if he finished his reelection campaign. US House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries also shared same views about President Biden.
