ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday said that fast-paced geo-economic and geo-strategic transitions at regional and global levels further highlight the importance of economic integration and it is high time to harness collective strengths and forge a path towards sustainable growth and prosperity by promoting regional connectivity and cooperation.
The Chairman Senate was addressing as a chief guest at the launching ceremony of reports of the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan (CCCPK) in Islamabad. He termed the reports “The Glorious 11 Years – How Chinese Companies Reshaped the Power Sector in Pakistan” and “Business Climate Index of Chinese Companies in Pakistan”, as success stories.
“Pakistan seeks to strengthen regional cooperation by fostering economic relations with our partner nations and China stands at the very top”, the Chairman Senate said. He emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic location, along with rich natural resources and sizeable workforce, makes it an attractive destination for foreign investment.
The Chairman Senate underlined the need for business-to-business linkages as such sustainable partnerships can attract foreign direct investment, technology sharing, and knowledge exchange schemes between the two nations.

He appreciated the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan for organizing the important event to launch their two special reports and said that these reports serve as a vital source of understanding the contributions, operating status and investment confidence of Chinese companies working in Pakistan.
Gilani said that the reports effectively showcased the commitment of CCCPK to promoting economic growth and business development in Pakistan through 122 Chinese companies working in the country, comprising both state-owned and private enterprises. He said that Pakistan offers immense potential for trade, investment, and joint ventures in areas such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and technology adding that the government is playing its role in providing a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
The Chairman Senate noted with satisfaction that the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have tremendously shaped the energy and infrastructural landscapes of Pakistan. He said that as the CPEC ushers in phase 2 development, the bilateral cooperation will further expand into industrial growth, agricultural modernization, mining and mineral resources exploration, science and information technology, and educational and cultural partnership.
