Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Emphasizes Strong Ties with Azerbaijan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its fraternal relations with Azerbaijan, highlighting their deep-rooted cultural and religious connections.

During a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, Gilani said that bilateral trade between the two nations has been consistently increasing in recent years. He emphasized the potential for further enhancing trade linkages across various sectors.

Gilani expressed satisfaction with the cordial relations both countries enjoy at international forums, reflecting the mutual respect and affection they hold for one another. He also mentioned the importance of high-level contacts and encouraged the exploration of avenues for bilateral cooperation through delegation exchanges.

He advocated for more frequent interactions at parliamentary and other levels to strengthen people-to-people connections. Additionally, Gilani extended his best wishes to the people, Parliament, and leadership of Azerbaijan.

The chairman congratulated Azerbaijan on winning the bid to host COP29 in Baku in November 2024, assuring that Pakistan would participate in this significant event in a meaningful way. He also invited the ambassador’s counterpart to visit Pakistan at a convenient time.

Ambassador Farhadov thanked Gilani for the warm welcome and reiterated the importance of high-level contacts and collaboration in diverse sectors, expressing Azerbaijan’s desire to further expand ties with Pakistan.
