RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have killed six terrorists during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) conducted in the Kot Azam area of South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to ISPR, in a successful Intelligence Based Operation (IBO), security forces conducted a raid in the general area of Kot Azam, on Tuesday, 23 May 2023. The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists, ISPR stated.
During the operation, a fierce exchange of fire ensued between the security forces and the terrorists. As a result, six terrorists were neutralized by the security forces. The killed terrorists were actively involved in various acts of terrorism, including targeting security personnel, extortion, and the targeted killing of innocent citizens.
Weapons and Ammunition Recovered from Terrorists: ISPR
The security forces also seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from the eliminated terrorists. The recovery of these arms further highlights the malicious intentions and capabilities of the terrorists operating in the region, ISPR added.
To ensure the complete elimination of any remaining terrorists in the area, a thorough sanitization process is underway. The security forces are diligently searching the vicinity to root out any remaining threats.
The local population residing in the area has shown immense support and appreciation for the operation. They have expressed their solidarity with the security forces and their commitment to eradicating the menace of terrorism from their community.
