Before the match even started, Khan caught attention with a ‘jet celebration’ gesture — a move that appeared to unsettle Bunty Singh.
The act was reminiscent of past sporting moments between Pakistan and India, drawing comparisons to a similar celebration by cricketer Haris Rauf that previously stirred controversy.
Felicitation
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari felicitated Sameer Khan for his historic win.
In his message of felicitation, the president said the record win of Sameer Khan is a matter of pride for the entire nation.
He said Sameer Khan highlighted Pakistan’s image at the global level by clinching the title.
The president also commended the hard work, resolve and passion of the rising young boxer Sameer Khan.
