FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s Eastern Punjab province has experienced a remarkable 48.1% increase in cotton production this year compared to the previous year.
According to the spokesperson for the Agriculture Research Information Department, Mubeen Ahmad, data collected by the Crop Reporting Service has provided insights into cotton production throughout the province.
The data reveals that this year, the province has already harvested 3.366 million bales of cotton, marking a 64.4% increase compared to the corresponding period last year. A 2.047 million bales were harvested in the 2022-23 season.
Moreover, there has been a 13.1% increase in the average weight of cotton bolls (Tinda), with this year’s weight recorded at 2.93 grams, compared to 2.59 grams last year.
Moreover, per-acre cotton production has witnessed a significant 48.1% increase this year, with a recorded production of 11.76 maund per acre, compared to 7.94 maund per acre last year.
