ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, is set to visit China to partake in the ‘Third Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation,’ scheduled to take place in Beijing from October 17 to 18.
The Prime Minister’s office announced on X Saturday that PM Kakar will participate in the BRF’s opening ceremony and deliver an address at the high-level Forum titled ‘Connectivity in an Open Global Economy.’
During the occasion, PM Kakar will hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Forum will also witness the presence of senior Chinese officials, business leaders, investors, and various international leaders.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Federal Minister for Commerce and Industries & Production Dr. Gohar Ejaz. This forum marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a Chinese flagship global infrastructure development project.
During his visit, the Commerce Minister will engage in meetings with prominent leaders of Chinese companies, the President of the EXIM bank, and other key figures to explore opportunities for boosting bilateral trade and business partnerships. The Minister will also play an active role in two business networking forums, expecting the presence of various Chinese companies.
Furthermore, the Minister will attend a meeting with the President of COFCO, a major player in the food processing industry. Several one-on-one meetings with representatives from various industries are also on the agenda, with considerable interest already shown by Chinese companies in these planned interactions.
