ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has convened the National Apex Committee meeting on Tuesday to discuss the law-and-order situation in the country.
The meeting will be held in the capital city Islamabad and will be attended by civil and military top brass.
The meeting would discuss the overall law and order situation in the country and progress on the National Action Plan, a local TV reported on Sunday.
Heads of intelligence agencies will brief the meeting on the law-and-order situation and steps taken to wipe out terrorists.
Meeting to Mull Over Military Operation
The meeting will mull over launching a country-wide operation against illegal foreign nationals.
On Saturday, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces’ operation against terrorists would continue unabated and they will not rest till the menace of terrorism is rooted out from the country.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief made these remarks during his visit to Quetta, where he was briefed on recent terrorist attacks in Zhob and Mastung.
The briefing was also attended by Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Chief Minister Balochistan and important provincial ministers along with senior civil and military officials.
COAS Munir paid tribute to martyrs, saying that such terror incidents on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, depict the “ill intent of the Khawarij, who have the backing of state sponsors of terrorism”.
He said the terrorists and their facilitators, having no link with ideology and religion, are proxies of the enemies of the country and its people. These evil forces will continue to face the full might of the state and security forces supported by a resilient nation.
Army chief Munir asserted that the People of Pakistan have rejected terrorists’ pseudo ideology and propaganda of their supporters and the nation is fully committed to peace, human development, and economic progress which indeed is causing a lot of distress to forces of evil in and outside of Pakistan.
