Pakistan’s Prime Minister Arrives in Riyadh to Attend Islamic Summit

RIYADH: Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Friday arrived in Riyadh to participate in the Islamic Summit, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to the SPA the prime minister was received by Deputy Governor of the Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Abdulaziz upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport.

Pakistani Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, and several other officials were also present on the occasion.

Earlier Pakistani state media reported that throughout his three-day official visit, the prime minister will engage in the emergency meeting being held in Riyadh, which will discuss the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

He will also hold sideline discussions with the visiting heads of state and government from other countries.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch addressing a weekly press briefing on Friday said that the summit has been convened in response to the unprecedented Israeli attacks on Gaza which pose a grave threat to civilians and create a humanitarian crisis.

She said Pakistan would continue to play its role to advance the international consensus and galvanize efforts for an urgent end to Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people

She further said that at interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani would attend the OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers preceding the summit.

The official said Pakistan was deeply concerned about what she termed heinous crimes being committed against the Palestinian people as Israeli forces continued with their campaign of terror and brutality in Gaza.
