Pakistan’s President Condoles with Family of Martyred Army Officer

ATTOCK: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday visited the residence of Pakistan Army martyred Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik in Attock to offer his condolences to the grieving family.

In a statement from the President Secretariat Press Wing, it was said that the president prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

He honoured Shaheed Lt. Mehmood for his ultimate sacrifice in defence of the country, highlighting his bravery in confronting Khawarij terrorists.

The president reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and praised the courage of the martyrs, noting that their sacrifices further bolster the nation’s resolve. He also extended his prayers for the family to find solace during their time of loss.

Lieutenant Uzair Mehmood Malik succumbed to his wounds at a military hospital after clashes with militants, was laid to rest with full military honors, the army’s media wing said on Monday.

Lt. Uzair Mehmood Malik, who was succumbed to his wounds on Friday, injured during clashes between Pakistani security forces and terrorists in Tirah Valley, Khyber district, in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Friday, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army’s media wing.

The confrontation resulted in the deaths of four militants and three Pakistani soldiers. Lt. Malik, critically injured, was transported to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar but succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

According to an ISPR statement, Lt. Malik, 24, from district Attock, was laid to rest with full military honours in his hometown.

The burial was attended by a significant number of senior army officers, soldiers, family members of martyrs, and local dignitaries.
