Pakistan’s President Calls for Boosting Economic Ties with Qatar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President, Dr Arif Alvi, expressed Pakistan’s desire to expand trade and investment relations with Qatar and strengthen the mutually beneficial economic ties between the two countries.

The President emphasized the importance of a partnership with Qatar in the energy sector and encouraged Qatari investments in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy.

During a meeting with the outgoing Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan, Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Faisal Al-Thani, at the Aiwan-e-Sadar, the president praised Qatar for hosting the Pakistani diaspora, which serves as a strong bridge between the two countries. He expressed hope that Qatar would increase the number of skilled Pakistani workers and facilitate visa processes in Pakistan.

Qatar’s Efforts to Combat Islamophobia

President Alvi commended Qatar’s leadership for their efforts against Islamophobia and emphasized the need for collective efforts by the Islamic world to combat the rising tide of Islamophobia globally. He also highlighted the gross human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the persecution of minorities, particularly Muslims, in India.

Regarding Afghanistan, the president stressed the importance of Pakistan and Qatar continuing to work together to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan, as well as providing necessary humanitarian assistance to Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

The president also praised Qatar for its excellent arrangements for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and expressed gratitude for Qatar’s humanitarian relief and assistance during last year’s floods in Pakistan.

The president wished the ambassador success in his future endeavors and appreciated his contributions in strengthening all-around cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar in areas of mutual interest
