Pakistan’s President Advocates Tele-Medicine, Tele-Health Services

KARACHI: Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, emphasized the need to promote tele-medicine and tele-healthcare platforms to expand access to healthcare services, particularly in underserved areas of Pakistan.

He stated that digital platforms could extend the reach of healthcare services to remote regions, offering timely guidance to the public and facilitating the promotion of preventive healthcare solutions within Pakistan.

President Alvi made these remarks during his address at an event titled “Spirit of Female Entrepreneurship and Medical Leadership of Female Doctors,” hosted by Sehat Kahani in Karachi.

The event was attended by key figures, including Sara Saeed Khurram, CEO of Sehat Kahani, Dr. Iffat Zafar, COO and co-founder of Sehat Kahani, and other medical professionals involved in tele-healthcare services.

During his speech, the President expressed concern that nations often falter due to inadequate access to education and healthcare facilities.

He stressed the importance of shifting the focus towards disease prevention rather than solely curing diseases and highlighted the alarming fact that 28 million children in Pakistan were out of school.

President Alvi acknowledged that women in Pakistan face unique societal challenges in their pursuit of active participation in the mainstream economy. He emphasized the role of institutions in creating opportunities to empower and educate women.

Pakistan President Commends Sehat Kahani Tele-Health Initiatives

He commended Sehat Kahani for its proactive role in transforming society by offering enhanced opportunities for female doctors. The President also praised Sehat Kahani’s commitment to tele-medicine and tele-healthcare services.

President Alvi emphasized the role of communication in bringing positive change to society. He encouraged open conversations at home as a means to address issues related to mental health, well-being, and other healthcare concerns. He also mentioned the government’s launch of a mental health helpline, ‘Hamraaz,’ aimed at assisting individuals facing mental health challenges or depression, which was initiated during the previous government’s tenure.

The President concluded by presenting awards to doctors from various specialties for their exceptional dedication and service in the field of medicine across Pakistan.

Sehat Kahani CEO and co-founder, Dr. Sara Saeed Khurram, celebrated the remarkable achievements of female entrepreneurship and the medical leadership of female doctors. She explained that Sehat Kahani was established to provide female doctors with opportunities to serve their country.

Dr. Khurram also highlighted Sehat Kahani’s role in connecting patients with doctors in Pakistan through its app, operating e-clinics nationwide to serve underserved communities. The platform offers individual consultations, corporate and mental health solutions, online diagnostics, and e-pharmacy services.
