ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar stated on Wednesday that the Pakistani government is committed to fostering the progress, peace, and prosperity of Gilgit Baltistan.

In his message on the 76th anniversary of Gilgit-Baltistan’s liberation from Dogra rule, he emphasized that mainstreaming the youth in Gilgit-Baltistan is a top priority for Pakistan.

Kakar highlighted the region’s abundant mineral resources and natural beauty, underscoring its potential to become a center for economic growth and tourism.

He stressed the importance of unity, religious harmony, and mutual affinity in securing a prosperous and promising future for both Pakistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

Kakar extended his congratulations to the people of Gilgit Baltistan, acknowledging the historical significance of the day when the courageous residents, led by Captain Mirza Hassan Khan and Subedar Major Babar, resisted Dogra’s rule. Their bravery compelled the puppet governor, Ghasara Singh, to surrender to the local people’s will for accession to Pakistan on November 1, 1947.

Economic and Tourism Potential in Gilgit-Baltistan

Kakar expressed deep appreciation for the patriotism of the Gilgit-Baltistan populace, recognizing their unwavering and selfless love for Pakistan. He emphasized that their resilience sent a clear message to all that Gilgit Baltistan is an integral part of Pakistan.

While reflecting on the freedom enjoyed by the people of Gilgit Baltistan, Kakar acknowledged the hardships faced by Muslims in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under Indian authority.

He noted that despite numerous United Nations resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir issue, the situation remains unresolved due to India’s unwillingness and international community indifference.

Prime Minister Kakar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the oppressed people of IIOJK and its commitment to their right to self-determination as per UN Security Council resolutions.

He also expressed Pakistan’s desire for a peaceful resolution to both the Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir conflicts, strongly condemning Israel’s ongoing violence in the holy land of the first Qibla for Muslims.

In his message, Kakar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and prosperity, particularly in the context of Gilgit Baltistan’s unique opportunities and challenges.
