ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday directed the concerned authorities to take effective steps to reduce road accidents and prevent fatalities.
The prime minister said this while expressing his grief over the tragic death of at least 17 persons in a head-on collision between a van and truck on Indus Highway near Kohat Tunnel toll plaza on Thursday.
He also prayed for the departed souls of the deceased to rest in peace and for the early recovery of the injured.
The ill-fated coach carrying the deceased was on the way to Peshawar from Lakki Marwat on Thursday when it was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction.
PM for Steps to Reduce the Risk of Road Accidents
The Prime Minister’s call regarding road safety and accident occurred when the country is experiencing scores of road accidents on a daily basis. The official authorities should take it as a serious wake-up call to further avoid such incidents and save the masses’ precious lives. Meanwhile, it is also a prime responsibility of the people and the commuters to obey traffic rules, avoid over-speeding, unnecessary over-taking, and other basic rules.-APP
