ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephonic conversation to exchange warm Eid greetings and discuss bilateral ties between their two countries.
The conversation focused on the recent earthquake in southeastern Turkey and Pakistan’s commitment to stand by Turkey during its rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his warm felicitations to the government, leadership, and people of Turkey on Eid-ul-Fitr. PM Shehbaz also offered prayers for the victims of the earthquake and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Turkey during this difficult time.
President Erdogan reciprocated the Prime Minister’s Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and conveyed his special feelings and affection for the people of Pakistan.
He thanked Pakistan for its support and assistance during the earthquake and expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s visit to Turkey in the aftermath of the disaster.
Bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkey
Both leaders expressed satisfaction at the excellent bilateral relations between their two brotherly countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further augment these fraternal ties in all areas of mutual interest, particularly economy, trade, food security, and green energy.
Both leaders also reaffirmed their resolve to remain in close contact on all important regional and global issues.
The premier also extended an invitation to President Erdogan to visit Pakistan, which was accepted with deep appreciation. The visit is expected to further strengthen the already robust bilateral relations between the two countries.
The conversation between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the President of Turkey highlighted the strong bond of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries.
The commitment to support each other during difficult times and to work towards mutual interests will further strengthen the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Turkey.
