Pakistan’s PM Phones Turkish President, Offers Quake Relief Assistance

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif telephoned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday and condoled over the destruction caused by the major earthquake, which jolted parts of Turkiye and Syria.

Expressing deep grief over the loss of precious lives and property, the prime minister sympathized with the grieved families.

“The people of Pakistan stand with their brotherly country of Turkiye and its citizens. Pakistan will extend its every possible support to the government of Turkiye and the people to help them cope with the earthquake-caused destruction,” the prime minister said.

PM Shehbaz said the adverse impacts of climate change were deteriorating. “The natural disasters and climate change know no boundaries, ethnicity, or region,” he remarked.

PM Shehbaz prayed to quake victims

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed souls. He also prayed for patience for the bereaved families and early recovery of the injured people.

President Erdogan thanked PM Shehbaz for the condolatory call and for offering every possible support.

Erdogan said he valued the sentiments of the Pakistani prime minister as well as the Pakistani people.

Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives due to a powerful earthquake in Turkiye and Syria.

In a statement, he extended condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the people of Turkiye, and the families of the earthquake victims.

The President also conveyed his sincerest condolences to the people of Syria over the loss of precious lives.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said the government and people of Pakistan are deeply grieved and saddened to learn about the severe earthquake tremors and stand in complete solidarity with our Turkish people in this hour of grief.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan’s government and its people stands ready to provide all possible support in the relief and rescue activities and is confident that the resilient Turkish nation will overcome this natural disaster with characteristic grit and determination.

Meanwhile, the Senate of Pakistan offered Fateha for Turkiye and Syria earthquake victims. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan led the prayer.
