ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hoped on Wednesday that the International Monetary Fund would announce a decision regarding the release of the bailout package within forty-eight hours.

In a conversation with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders, he said that all of the conditions made by the IMF had been met. Pakistan is on the way to finishing the ninth review.

Pakistan Meets IMF Conditions

PM Shehbaz said that the government made the solution compatible with the policies of the international lender. Through several discussions, Pakistan has removed all of the IMF reservations.

He said that once Pakistan receives the tranche, the government will rapidly advance the country’s economic programme.

Earlier today, the PM constituted a top-level committee to work out the revival, restructuring, and reformation of Pakistan International Airlines.

He was presiding over a meeting to discuss the issues pertaining to the PIA.

The committee, led by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, would give its proposals and recommendations to the cabinet after Eidul Azha.

The committee would be comprised of Railways and Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Jahanzeb Khan, and secretary aviation.

The body would deliberate on various options for the revival of the national airline.
