ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said on Tuesday that the government would ensure continuity in the economic policies, besides further improving them.
He said that a further increase in foreign investment under the Special Investment Facilitation Council was among the caretaker government’s top priorities.
The prime minister presided over a meeting in which he was given a briefing over the economic situation of the country, PM Office Media said in a press note.
During the meeting, the PM said that work on the public welfare projects would continue and the government would provide world-standard facilities in the education and health sectors.
He also directed for expediting reforms currently underway in the power sector and strict implementation of decisions for increasing tax revenues.
Consolidating Pakistan’s Economy
The premier said that the caretaker government would focus on deregulation and responsible autonomy to consolidate the economy and expressed the resolve to concentrate energies on economic reforms.
The meeting was attended by high officials, including the chairman Federal Board of Revenue, the State Bank of Pakistan governor, and the secretaries of the Finance Division and Power.
The meeting was briefed on the measures taken to bring more improvement and stability to the economy. A briefing was also given on the power sector reforms.
