ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations on Monday to Pakistan Army officer Julian Moazzam James, who hails from the Christian community, for his promotion to the rank of major general.
In his message, the premier praised the invaluable contributions of the Christian community to the country’s progress, development, and defence.
He wished Major General James success in his future endeavours, describing his professional skills and dedication as a guiding light for the younger generation.
Major General James is the first Christian army officer to achieve this rank. Previously, Helen Mary Roberts, also from the Christian minority, was promoted to the rank of brigadier in the Pakistan Army’s Medical Corps.
Last year at a Christmas celebration in Rawalpindi’s Christ Church, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir acknowledged the Christian community’s significant role in Pakistan’s growth. He highlighted their contributions to education, healthcare, philanthropy, and national defence.
General Munir emphasized the importance of fostering interfaith harmony to fulfil Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of a united and progressive Pakistan.
