ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Muhammad Sami Saeed on Monday and discussed projects ongoing under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
During the meeting, the two discussed the ongoing CPEC projects, particularly related to infrastructure, industrial zones, energy, agriculture, and information technology.
Secretary Ministry of Planning Awais Manzur Sumra also participated in the meeting.
The minister apprised the visiting diplomat, who assumed the office charge in September, that the caretaker government was fully committed to completing the CPEC projects on a fast-track basis.
He said that the Planning Ministry regularly reviewed progress on ongoing projects, and Special Economic Zones’ work was in full swing.
Sami Saeed said that the government was taking all possible steps to further improve the security of the staff working on the projects being executed under the mega-project CPEC.
Chinese Ambassador Lauds Pakistan’s Efforts
The Chinese diplomat lauded the efforts of the Planning Ministry for its active role in carrying forward CPEC projects.
He said the Belt and Road Initiative was an extremely important forum where Pakistan’s participation carried great importance.
He invited the caretaker minister to attend the BRI Forum-2023, to be held on 17-18 October in Beijing, China.
