ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Parliament on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution strongly condemning the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza, as the military offensive has resulted in the deaths of at least 50,983 Palestinians since October 2023.
Pakistan’s Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar moved the resolution in the National Assembly, the lower house of the Parliament, noting that the latest Israeli offensive resumed on March 18, has resulted in the killing of 1600 innocent Palestinians.
It severely censured the ruthless destruction of complete civil infrastructure, including houses, hospitals, schools, and places of worship, by the barbaric Israeli bombing.
The House expressed firm and unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle, reaffirming their inalienable right to self-determination and to their homeland.
It voiced disappointment over the international community’s continued failure to stop Israeli aggression and urgently called for an immediate, permanent, and comprehensive ceasefire, along with the unimpeded and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged and suffering Palestinian population.
The National Assembly demanded the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces from the Gaza Strip in line with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2735 of 2024.
The resolution called upon the global community to take concrete steps towards recognition and admission of the state of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar said that the entire nation stands united on the issue of Palestine. He highlighted that atrocities are being perpetrated against innocent Palestinians in Gaza.
He added that Pakistan has the unique distinction as its passport is not valid for Israel, reiterating Pakistan’s stance of not recognising Israel.
He said Pakistan has consistently raised its voice against Israeli oppression, stating that Israel is engaging in war crimes and violating international laws.
Highlighting Pakistan’s relief efforts for the oppressed people of Palestine, he shared that around 200 Palestinian students are currently receiving medical education in Pakistan, along with free accommodation.
He further noted that Pakistan has dispatched thousands of tons of humanitarian aid to support its Palestinian brothers and sisters.

EU commits 1.6bn euros in aid for Palestinians
The European Union has announced a new three-year financial support package for the Palestinians worth up to 1.6 billion euros ($1.8bn).
The fresh aid pledge came just ahead of a meeting between Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa and EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
“We are stepping up our support to the Palestinian people. EUR1.6bn until 2027 will help stabilise the West Bank and Gaza,” EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas wrote on X.
“This will reinforce the PA’s (Palestinian Authority) ability to meet the needs of the Palestinian people in the West Bank and prepare it to return to govern Gaza once conditions allow,” Kallas said.
